Don Juan Tenorio

Don Juan Tenorio by José Zorrilla is one of the classic works of Spanish theater and, possibly, one of the most represented on stages around the world. The work was born in the medieval legend made famous by Tirso de Molina, "El burlador de Sevilla", during the Golden Age. Don Juan is rebel and diabolical.

It is a symbol of individual freedom against social laws. But what is different about Zorrilla's work is that Don Juan finds his salvation in the love of Lady Ines. This act allows a conciliation between the religion and the romantic image of the seductive and arrogant hero, and turns this theatrical piece into an icon of our scene.
