Fiestas de La Florida

In honor of San Antonio Abad and Our Lady of Hope

This popular livestock fair dates back to 1954. Due to the great importance it acquired over the years, in 1974 the Hon. Cabildo Insular de Tenerife, actively collaborated by providing grants to aid transfers of farmers and their respective herds.

Ranchers, neighbors and people from all corners of the island, come with their animals for the blessing of the cattle by the local parish priest, during the celebration of the Holy Mass. Subsequently a trophy delivery is made to the different livestock categories.

One of the magical moments of the Holy Mass takes place at the moment that Canarian songs are interpreted. Previously and at the end of this mass the transfer of the patron saints is carried out in procession from the temple to the fairground and vice versa.

El Puchero

The famous "puchero" (pot) of La Florida is one of the most important events of our parties and the one that has had the greatest transcendence outside our borders, it is also one of the typical dishes of the Canary Islands, composed mostly of vegetables. Its mixture with gofio gives place to another delicacy of our gastronomy, the "escaldón".
