African art has a great variety of cultures where the great wealth of their ancestral customs and traditions stands out.

African sculpture has had a great influence on European contemporary art since the beginning of the 20th century, and has served as inspiration for numerous artists of the Surrealist movement.

This exhibition of sculptures is the result of a constant search for sensations and emotions embodied in masks, sculptures and objects used in certain important rituals such as fertility, religious and initiation.

The masks of the exhibition show social themes, with human and animal characteristics, personified by correctly masked dancers and who adopt a variety of roles to exemplify the correct or not forms of social behavior.

The pieces come from Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Mali, Sierra Leone or The Congo.
