"AT THE GATES OF PARADISE" - Carpet from 2025

This year's Teide natural earth carpet, 2025, is a continuation of the previous carpet from 2024.
It is also a single tapestry in which the complex composition of a cluster of figures makes us think of the moment of Creation: the heavens, constellations, and stars; animals, rivers, and seas; and women and men. In short, and as the title suggests, we are at the Gates of Paradise.
In this Paradise carpet, and in conjunction with last year's carpet, the figures of Adam and Eve, as well as the Serpent and the apple, appear on the left side and emerge from the painting, recalling the moment of the expulsion from Paradise.
We also have the representation of the four Evangelists, from left to right. Above is the constellation of the Bull, and to the side, in a transparency with the background, the figure of the Lion appears. On the other side, the right, we see an immense and majestic eagle and the angel at its side. These figures range in height from the 3.5 meters of the Bull, the furthest figure, to the 9.5 meters of the angel.
This creates added visual depth by seeing the figure of the eagle within the closest compositional space of the close planes, while the distance to the constellation further emphasizes this depth.
Viewing this carpet and this composition is like reading a narrative that tells us various moments from Biblical history, ending with two central paintings, each 8 meters high, where the faces of Jesus and Mary appear as our role models.

Within this immense tapestry, 12 animals (and it's no coincidence that there are 12) and different flowers from our planet appear, inviting us to defend Nature, to rediscover Our Paradise, and to demonstrate that we can be worthy of this special world in which we live. The animals we find range in height from the ladybug measuring 60 cm, to the seahorse, to the turtle, measuring 4.80 meters, to the hummingbird, measuring 7 meters. This highlights the importance of the animal world on our planet.

The flowers are no less so, with the lotus flower measuring 1 meter high and the lily, located in the center above Jesus, measuring 7 meters. This lily is the light that extinguishes the darkness of the flower behind and beside it, which also appeared last year (another connecting point between the two carpets). Also, on this right side, a 4-meter flower appears outside the tapestry, a reminder of the flower we made for the first carpet in 1992. Another detail worth noting is the JUBILEE 2025 logo with the title "Pilgrims of Hope."
We will use all the available colors we have, as well as some new or different ones we have been searching for for some time now, to try to give this carpet the most colorful possible. The carpet will be made entirely in perspective, as we did for the 1997 carpet, which featured "The Last Supper," and the 1999 carpet, which featured "The Creation." The great Artearena team will be responsible for creating this carpet together,
which will probably be the most complex we have made to date.
As a last-minute tribute to the passing of our Pontiff, Pope Francis, there will be an image of Francis I, in the foreground, in the center of the carpet, as if he were entering the tapestry to go to the Father through the Son. May he Rest in Peace.
