42nd INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF CANARY ISLANDS MUSIC
FROM JANUARY 8 TO FEBRUARY 7, 2026
The Canary Islands International Music Festival is finalizing preparations for a new edition that will offer more than 60 concerts spread across the islands between January 8 and February 7, 2026, organized by the Government of the Canary Islands. As a preview of the program, it is worth highlighting the inclusion of such attractive productions as those brought by the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra of Munich, conducted by Paavo Järvi; the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra with Argentine cellist Sol Gabetta and Jakub Hrusa; and the Mahler Chamber with Chinese pianist Yuja Wang.
The subscription concerts, which will be available for purchase starting in September, also include a tribute to Manuel de Falla with the Spanish National Radio and Television Orchestra and Choir, which will mark the opening of this 42nd edition. The concert is conducted by Christoph König and features Canarian artists such as pianist Iván Martín and soprano Raquel Lojendio, among others. The concert will also feature the SWR (Radio Stuttgart) Symphony Orchestra, conducted by François-Xavier Roth, and the Monte Carlo Philharmonic, conducted by Kazuki Yamada and with Martin Helmchen on piano. This year, the audience will once again be able to enjoy the pianistic excellence of Arcadi Volodos.
The two major Canarian orchestras also renew their commitment to the FIMC. The Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra, with Karel Mark Chichón, will be accompanied by flamenco singer Estrella Morente, while the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Pablo González, will appear before the public with Russian violinist Vadim Repin.
