The Starmus festival has announced the first confirmed speakers for Starmus VIII, which will bring together Nobel laureates, astronauts, philosophers, and leading figures in the environmental and life sciences for one of the world's most unique gatherings dedicated to celebrating science, culture, and exploration. This is all thanks to Brian May, guitarist of Queen and co-founder of the event, as well as a renowned astrophysicist.

Among the first confirmed participants are artificial intelligence pioneer Geoffrey Hinton—considered one of the "godfathers of artificial intelligence"—neuroscientist and Nobel laureate Britt May-Britt Moser, astronaut, former Governor General of Canada, and president of the Association of Space Explorers Julie Payette, and philosopher and bestselling author Steven Pinker.

The festival will feature eight Nobel laureates, along with astronauts and leading thinkers in philosophy, environmental science, and the life sciences, continuing Starmus' tradition of uniting scientific discovery with artistic inspiration.

Starmus VIII will also mark two important milestones: the 10th anniversary of the Stephen Hawking Medal for Science Communication, created by Stephen Hawking in collaboration with STARMUS in 2016, and the presentation of the first Jane Goodall Earth Medal, which will recognize individuals whose work inspires the protection of life on our planet.

The celebration of Starmus VIII is made possible thanks to the support of the Tenerife Island Council and the Government of the Canary Islands, whose commitment allows this international festival, which unites science, music, and exploration, to return to the archipelago and place the Canary Islands at the heart of the global dialogue between science, culture, and society. The festival is held within the framework of the grant awarded by the Tenerife Island Council to the Starlight Foundation of the Canary Islands for the celebration of Starmus VIII, and also has the collaboration of the La Palma Island Council.
