Isla Baja - Buenavista
38480 Buenavista del Norte

Number of holes: 18 holes
Designer: Severiano Ballesteros (C.V.)

LOCATION AND SETTING
The Buenavista Golf course is at the north west tip of Tenerife, in an area known as “Isla Baja”, with a typically mild climate.

Close to the course, you will find the Teno Range, a protected area that contains sites of great beauty, like the Hamlet of Masca. A gorge of the same name runs through it and following the ravine down to the coast is one of the favourite excursions of hikers coming to the island. Another interesting site is Punta de Teno, with its spectacular seascapes, is the light house and a small wharf on an outstanding stretch of coastline.

The Tenerife Cabildo (Island Government) is recovering the coastline for bathing in this area, and it is building an eco-museum in the neighbouring borough of El Tanque, where information and material on the natural and cultural heritage of Tenerife will be available.

Future projects include recovering and restoring the caves and other remains that make up the La Fuente archaeological site. The authorities will make the conservation of these sites compatible with sporting uses of the area.

ACCOMMODATION SUPPLY
Maximum development will be 42,800 m2, including hotel and auxiliary uses. The project aims to present an accommodation supply that will act as a base for building a high quality hotel complex, with four and five-star establishments. Projected maximum accommodation capacity is 300 beds, distributed among three establishments.

These establishments will have a maximum height of three storeys and 12 metres, and they will only be used for hotel and spa facilities.

DESCRIPTION

THE COURSE Buenavista Golf is a 6,515 metre, par 72 18-hole course. It has been designed with 6 par 3, 6 par 4 and 6 par 5 holes.

The greens for 5 of the holes are right on the coastal cliffs, where the surf breaks, creating an outstandingly beautiful spectacle. Some holes give the impression that you are hitting the ball into the ocean..
The central lake, between the 9th and the 18th, opposite the Club House, is linked by waterfalls, giving these holes a very special atmosphere.
Another area of water is the stream running from an old well next to the former “Hacienda de La Fuente”, next to the 1st hole, to the 17th, where it disgorges into the sea..
The design of the fairways closely follows the natural terrain, with native flora planted in different areas.
The Club House is set on a knoll in the middle of the course, offering panoramic views over the entire course from the terraces and the cafeteria. It has all the services and equipment necessary for playing golf, maintaining the course, along with both above and underground parking for 150 vehicles. It has been designed to blend into the terrain, using local basalt rock for frontages.
