General Information

There are several different models of telephones currently in use in public telephone boxes: public coin boxes: These are the typical telephone booths.

The modular box is the one that accepts Telefónica (Spanish Telecom) and standard credit cards (Visa, American Express, Euro-6000), and electronic wallets. These telephones also have all instructions in several different languages. Instructions appear on the screen in different languages on pressing the "L" key. To return to the dialling tone, you can press the recall key ("R") without hanging up.

Regular coin telephones: These are the telephones found in public establishments such as bars, restaurants, shops, etc. In the autonomous model, the price per unit appears on the screen as soon as you pick up the phone.

Unit telephones: These can be found both in Telefónica and private operator boxes (hostelería, etc.). In these boxes, you first make your call and afterwards, you pay the amount indicated on the meter.
