Protected Denomination of Origin "Honey of Tenerife"
Since January 13, 2014, the date on which the European Commission approved its registration in the corresponding European register, Honey of Tenerife formally has a protected designation of origin (D.O.P.) valid throughout the Community.
But since April 10, 2012, the date on which the transitory national protection was approved, the honeys produced on the island have already been marketed under certification, and with the image of the D.O.P. "Honey of Tenerife".
The Protected Denomination of Origin "Miel de Tenerife" guarantees the freshness of Tenerife's honey, as well as its diversity and specificity, manifested in multifloral honeys and thirteen varieties of monofloral honeys, which have made it so popular.
The logo of the D.O.P. "Miel de Tenerife" assures consumers the freshness, quality and typification of the honeys that carry it, having met strict requirements in the production phases, as well as exhaustive physical-chemical, pollen and sensory quality controls.
