The Center for the Conservation of Agricultural Biodiversity
The Center for the Conservation of Agricultural Biodiversity of Tenerife (CCBAT), belonging to the Technical Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Island Council of Tenerife, was created in 2003 and works with the main objective of recovering and conserving the local agricultural biodiversity from the island of Tenerife.
The Center belongs to the National Germplasm Bank Network assuming the commitment to avoid, as far as possible, the loss of local agricultural diversity. For this, it carries out a series of activities such as the collection of local material, conservation, characterization, multiplication, regeneration and documentation. All with the ultimate goal of transmitting this important wealth to future generations.
