Vilaflor
After the conquest of Tenerife in 1496, there are records of the presence of conquerors in this area as of 1501, when Governor Alonso Fernández de Lugo granted lands to several of his men in the area of Chasna, between the kingdoms of Abona and Adeje.
After several changes of ownership, Pedro Sole turned it into an entailed estate in 1602; the Estate of the Soler family (Mayorazgo de los Soler). The Camino Real de Chasna (Chasna grazing trail) became vitally important. It started out from La Orotava, crossed Las Cañadas and reached Vilaflor, making the town a compulsory stopping point. Tradition has it that the name comes from the exclamation of a Castilian settler, Pedro de Bracamonte, on coming across a lovely Guanche girl "Vilaflor de Chasna". Ever since 1550, there has been a small church devoted to San Pedro. But it was Pedro Soler and his wife Juana Padilla who founded a parish church for the area. Brother Pedro de Bethencourt, founder of the Bethlemite Order and recently made a Saint by Pope John Paul II, was born in Vilaflor.
