BEACHES IN CANDELARIA

Candelaria beach, or Playa de La Arena, is opposite the cathedral. It a broad expanse of black sand, but you must be CAREFUL with the currents and the waves. It is advisable to stay near the edge.

The next beach along is Playa del Charquito, near the fishing harbour. This is safer.

There are several fish and sea-food restaurants close to these beaches.

Las Arenitas is a beach in Las Caletillas, near the Hotel Tenerife Tour, on the avenue that goes toward Candelaria. You also need to be careful on this beach as the waves are large and the undertow strong.

All these beaches get quite crowded in summer.

131 (Santa Cruz - Igueste) to Las Caletillas or Candelaria
111 (Santa Cruz - Playa de las Americas) to the Las Caletillas or Candelaria turn-off.
