Granadilla
PLAYA DE EL MÉDANO
The Granadilla coast has the island's best beaches, of fine golden sand. El Médano is a small, quiet, family holiday resort, with the longest beach in Tenerife (2 Km) and shallow seas. There is direct access from the TF-1 motorway. The beach has changing rooms and showers in the square by the beach. There is a kiosk and many bars and restaurants in the area, as well as a tourist information office (Tel 922 176002). The constant winds in this area make the beach ideal for windsurfing. Winds are not so strong in September and October. El Cabezo, another sandy beach, is the next one along to the north. Several international windsurfing competitions are held here, such as the O'Neill Tenerife Grand Prix, which is on the Professional Boardsailing Association (PBA) circuit. La Jaquita is another beach in the area. Playa de Montaña Pelada beach is close by. This is a nudist beach. Bus Routes: PLAYA DE LA TEJITA Broad beach of fine sand, about 1 kilometre long, just south of El Médano, beyond Montaña Roja. It has a refreshment stall. The small cove at the foot of Montaña Roja is a nudist beach. The currents make is somewhat dangerous. There is a dirt track that goes down to the beach form the road between El Médano and Los Abrigos, although we recommend you do it on foot as the area has suffered greatly form off-road traffic. A little further south, is the small El Confital black sand beach. There are many fish and sea-food restaurants in the nearby fishing village of Los Abrigos.
