Candelaria
Candelaria is where you will find the Cathedral in which the Patron Saint of the Canary Islands is worshipped. It is a must on your agenda, with extensive beaches and many historical and legendary sites.
La Virgen de la Candelaria reached the beaches of Chimisay on the waves, the Guanches picked up the figure and placed it in the Archibinico grotto, now called the San Blas grotto. This has now been made into a church which shelters the figure most worshipped among the islanders. The Las Caletillas beach is now the site of an independent holiday resort, just seventeen kilometres away from Santa Cruz.
