Tanque, El
The borough of El Tanque is situated in the extreme west of Tenerife. With a population of just over three thousand inhabitants, its privileged position in the Duate highlands makes it a balcony overlooking this beautiful part of the island.
The views from La Atalaya and the Lomo Molino look out points are really impressive to anyone who has the chance to contemplate the beautiful scenery of the area.
There are many rustic beauty spots in El Tanque, where you can see the Tenerife countryside at its best; farm houses, ancient sites, at the foot of a forest that grows up to Puerto de Erjos.
At one point on the road, La Atalaya, you can get a magnificent view over Garachico that makes the trip worth while.
The borough is made up of three districts: Ruigómez, San José de los Llanos, with a recreation area and a forest park, and Erjos.
The town is quiet and well conserved, with beautiful examples of typical architecture and lots of game in the countryside: rabbit and grouse.
