Puerto de la Cruz
Puerto de la Cruz is the north of Tenerife's main tourist resort. Situated on the coast of the Orotava valley, at the foot of Mount Teide, it enjoys a mild climate all year round. It was among the first holiday resorts in the Canary Islands, and was declared to be of tourist interest in 1955. Puerto de la Cruz is a cosmopolitan town with magnificent hotel facilities and the enormous Lago Martiánez complex, designed by international artist Cesar Manrique.
Modern and functional aspects can be found along with typical old spots of the small fishing village it used to be. Areas such as San Telmo, the Customs House, San Felipe Castle and La Ranilla in general.
The Taoro Park, is a large open park above the town and the Botanical Gardens, dating from 1788, housing plant species from the five continents. Puerto de la Cruz is a favourite spot for meeting people and having fun.
