Garachico

Burial caves with personal belongings have been found (La Caleta, San Juan Degollado, etc.)

It is difficult to recommend visits in a place with so much to see; palaces, like the Marquise of Adeje's; churches like Santa Ana, re-built in 1714 after the previous church had been burned down. Inside, there is an excellent display of the work of the island's carpenters, sculptors and metal workers. This includes figures of Santa Ana, San Cristobal and La Purisima, just to name a few; convents; the 16th century San Miguel Castle, with its emblazoned door and drill square.

There are also fine examples of local architecture to be found in many of the towns and villages of the borough.
