La Guancha

The borough of La Guancha holds the Hoya Brunco burial caves, where mommies, skins and burial belongings have been found.

There are also other archaeological sites where the remains of aboriginal utensils have been found: Los Celajes, Fuente Fria, El Roque, etc.

Santa Catalina is the oldest village, with beautiful examples of popular 16th century stone work architecture. The town centre is also 16th century, though later, made up of narrow streets, some paved with cobbles or with natural stone, and lined with traditional houses with pitched roofs.

The 16th century parish church of Dulce Nombre de Jesus is worth mentioning too. It has a lovely 17th century reredos and a large number of paintings.
