Arafo

Much of the borough, particularly the highland area, is classed as a Nature Park, along with the area of the Güimar valley and both sides of the dorsal mountain range.

The Caldera de Pedro Gil, with the Las Arenas or Arafo volcanoes are good examples of erosive cauldrons with a historic volcano within (1705), combining its natural interest with its scenic value.

The ravines that lead down from the dorsal ridge hold enclaves of great natural significance. One example of this is the Añavingo ravine, which holds outstanding endemic species.
