One sector of the borough, of great environmental interest, falls within the boundaries of the Teide National Park.
The Corona Forestal Nature Park is a continuation, or buffer zone, for the Park, made up of extensive pine forests.
The Tigaiga Nature Park is a large area around the Teide massif; encompassing the area from the rim of Las Cañadas, the whole Tigaiga slope, the coastal cliffs and the Ruíz ravine, which goes down to the sea. This incredible landscape of sheer slopes and cliffs is the home of many endemic species of flora and fauna.
La Rambla de Castro is a Protected Area that includes an extensive section of coastline, from Piedra Gorda to Playa del Socorro. It is an oasis of natural landscape in an area that has been greatly changed by man.
Montaña de Los Frailes is a natural area that includes this recent volcano (Series IV).
There is a recreation area and camp site in Chanajiga, which can be reached along the road from La Orotava to Palo Blanco - Benijos. To stay overnight, you need a permit from the Department of the Environment of the Island Cabildo.
