Tacoronte
The Madre del Agua forest, in Agua García, is one of the largest remaining forests on this side of the island, covering an area of some two square kilometres. Along with wax myrtle and tree heath, the gullies and ravines also hold well conserved laurel groves. This is the site of the only spring in the borough and it is an area with many different endemic plants.
Lomo de la Jara is a recreation area and camp site (with the corresponding permit from the Department of the Environment of the Island Cabildo), which can be reached by taking the road that goes from Agua García towards La Esperanza. Take the turn off toward the forestry centre and follow the dirt track for about 1 Km.
The southern extremes of the borough, over 1,00 m. above sea level, are included in the Nature Park that includes this section of Tenerife's dorsal ridge. Down on the coast the Sauzal and Tacoronte cliffs constitute an area that is protected for its scenic and environmental interest, both the flora and the bird life.
Other natural sites to visit are the volcanic cones and the hundred-year-old dragon tree.
