Puerto de la Cruz
The La Orotava Acclimatisation Gardens were created in the late 18th century, with the idea of bringing plants from all over the world to Europe and letting them acclimatise at this half-way house. Although scientific progress has discarded this idea now, it did enable a large collection of tropical and equatorial plants to be created here. It is, therefore highly interesting both from a scientific and a teaching point of view.
The coastal area has two of Cesar Manrique's works that blend man's activity with nature: the Martiánez Complex and Playa Jardin.
The Tafuriaste ravine gives you the chance to do an excursion that will show you some of the most typical natural features of the borough and the Camino de la Costa (Coastal path) that will take you to the El Bollullo beach, in the neighbouring borough of La Orotava.
