La Orotava
Teide National Park shelters outstanding plant and animal life, plus Guanche remains, all in a spectacular landscape of complex origin and geological development. The Corona Forestal Nature Park the extensive and environmentally valuable forests that surround and blanket the mountain peaks of Tenerife.
La Caldera is a recreation area and camp site, which can be reached by taking the turn-off at Km 16.2 of the La Orotava - Teide road.
The Ramón el Caminero recreation area and camp site is at Km 24 of the same road (you need a permit from the Department of the Environment of the Island Cabildo to stay overnight). You can visit the trout farm and its facilities, including an interesting arboretum, at Aguamansa, along the Las Cañadas road.
In the eastern part of the borough, there is a nature area called Laderas de Santa Ursula, Los Organos and the Altos del Valle de Güimar, which is a scientific site with interesting geological, flora and fauna and heritage features.
El Rincón is an area of scenic and farming value, in a zone that has been radically transformed by building devlopments.
The Humboldt look out offers a unique view over the broad valley.
